RFID stands for radio frequency identification, is found to be useful in different applications at present and in the future. This technology integrates electromagnetic and electrostatic coupling in radio frequency and does not require direct contact to perform its function. There are low and high-frequency RFIDs where those that operate at high frequencies could function up to a distance 90 feet from a frequency of 2.4GHz to 2.5 GHz.
An RFID system is composed of an antenna, transponder and transceiver that interact with each other to read and process information. RFID tags could be an Embedded Computer because it can be embedded into almost anything for it to be identified by the system. RFID made it possible to track almost anything that contains an RFID tag. This led to the issue of the “after buy” that can be associated with this technology. You can easily be tracked if you have every single thing in your body tagged and that could cause a lot of trouble unlike bar codes where tracking ends once you made the purchase.
After being introduced in the market a few years ago, RFID systems are expected to be utilized in medical, identification, Industrial Computing and a lot other processes.
